x4 for MS-1. I own the SR 80 and theyre good if you want more of a bright and upfront phone where the MS-1 is just as good but more laid back.

where is it 99$ shipped worldwide?
and are they better than the SR125 or not?
how are they with no amp and plugged directly in to an ob sound card?
(realtek high definition).
I might plug them into my aiwa setup through the headphone-out, is that better?
Are they comfortable? I'm pretty sure I'm not going to hear them before I buy them so I'll have to take your word for it.
BTW, are they suitable to my kind of music? Instead of just giving you a "dry" list here's my Last.fm page so you could learn my music habits: guyx1992’s Music Profile – Users at Last.fm
I know it's a lot to ask but 100$ is a big deal (for me at least).
THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH

x6 on the MS1s.

I paid $104 for my MS1s shipped with insurance directly from Alessandro High-End Products, since I live in Brazil. They're neither gentle nor timely at answering emails, though.

Don't know about the on-board soundcard. I usually have mine plugged into my D2 + Corda Move combo, and they sound fantastic that way. I haven't had any comfort issue so far (my pair came with flat pads).

If you do not have the chance to buy in the US, then MS-1 is the open rock headphone of choice. Otherwise, I would say SR-60. My mind has changed about the MS-1. But, budget is budget.

Onboard sound is okay. Either a secondary PCI soundcard (if you have a tower) or an external USB DAC (digital to analog converter, if you have a tower or laptop) would offer higher fidelity.

Get a pair, then you'll see why they need to be open. When you cover the housing up with your hand, it sounds absolutely horrible.

Unless you're asking why they don't make closed grados? That I can't help you with, just a preference of the grado family I guess. Open air headphones are generally easier to make well too.
