i was at the last head-fi meet, it was a blast indeed.
most headphones there from £100 -> £3,000 there
People were selling stuff there ( i was trying to shift my AKG Q701 to no avail ( )
what i think you should do is wait until the meet, gather some more funds and try snag something juicy at the meet
will give you a great perspective too.
friendly people and can listen to em all day before buying !
in the £100 or so category you don't have a lot of choice to be honest :/
