Open back headphone recommendations for a m40x user?

I think AKG's K612 Pro is a phenomenal headphone that's worth your consideration.
They're somewhere around neutral, with the bass being down in level just a smidge, but extending very low. Treble is about where it should be, with no serious bumps or dips. Mid range is superb, with a great deal of body and detail to it.
Sound stage and imaging, to me, put them above the Sennheiser HD598. Sound stage is very large without feeling overly distant. Imaging presents a nice sense of a 3d space, with a particularly large center image. This combination of imaging and tonality make them well suited for basically all types of music, with maybe the exception of really bass-heavy stuff.
To me, this headphone is more of a competitor to the HD600 or HD650, despite being significantly cheaper at about $130 new.
I'm not against the AKG K612 Pro, but I believe it's fairly power hungry, I would suggest the Soundmagic HP200, over the K612 Pro.

Would a micca origen g2 be able to power the AKG K612? I have a O2 amp if necessary.
O2 (Objective 2), is a good bang for the buck head amp, for driving the 120-Ohm AKG K612 Pro headphones.
I would not mind trying a K612 Pro, plugged into my Darkvoice 336SE tube amp.

Damn that is very convincing, that's actually something I struggled with my m40x and other headphones I demoed when trying every genre I could find when something wouldn't always sound as good, bass muddied or punched too hard, etc. Also that earcup size looks very attractive, my goddamn ears are picky little sluts, it took ZMF cowhides on my m40x to make it work. Do your ears touch the drivers inside at all?

The cups are absolutely huge, so I would think they'd fit just about everyone's ears. They are just over an inch deep, with the openings being just over 2 1/2 inches across. I used to have my ears gauged, so my ear lobes are larger than most peoples', and still I have no comfort issues with them. My ears make the slightest contact with the driver housing, but it's padded, and the mesh is extremely soft, so it's no issue whatsoever.
