but I don't recognize those numbers. All of the philips opamps are a 4 digit number starting with 5. I'm wondering if those are part of the optical in/out based on their position.

From the pics on page 3 you can see the 2 largest caps are for power duties. And the WM8776 is a codec, there's a seperate 2ch dac and 6ch dac.
When babelfished, there's mention of "2ch private output". Those 3 Philips chips are involved in this 2ch scheme.

Location of WM8776 is very far away from the Output, right on top right hand corner of the board. A bit strange in placement IMO, the path is very long to reach the connector end.

And the caps....

I am impressed.

Just btw and fyi: I've been talking to the German Onkyo guys about the card, and apparently they don't have any plans to sell that thingy over here...
