Eye candy. If I'm not mistaken, I only see high quality Nichicon Muses and the Sanyo OSCON (also very nice). *waits for reviews*

Certainly if you mod it yourself the Lynx2 and RME hammerfall are still way more $. So it's still not comparable. Since we don't know how this sounds like either, that's another reason we can't make a decision vs. other soundcards.

I own the Onkyo SE 150 PCI card, about 200 hours into breaking it in (together with the Audio Technica ATH A900 and the AT-HA20 amp. The sound is very very good (better than everything I've heard before, SBLive, 1212, MSI K9n Onboard A97, and of course the IPOD).
No direct comparision tough, sorry, (only between the IPOD, Onboard system and SE150), but my impresion is that the SE150 sound is far better and of higher quality...
It is much more "audiophile" oriented, meaning that it is not a fully transparent card - feels warmer, and it's improving even the worse sounding MP3's... not sure how to explain this - somehow like the subtile difference between tube amplifiers and solid state, where you would "think" the tube sounds "nicer"... Noise is very very low and I think the only "hiss" I can hear comes from the amplifier (at maximum volume - you wouldn't dare to put some music on, it can seriously damage your hearing)
The provided software and drivers are the standard ones from the VIA home-page - they do the job and that's it, no fancy extra options - you don't need them anyhow...
Well, that's is - any questions - I can answer.

Here's a question: any idea how to get one in USA?
