I had the 30r and Hiby R2 both. R2 doesn't sound as good as the 30r. Shanling Q1 comes close but it doesn't have streaming. Try to audition the Shanling M3X if you can.

Thanks, On paper at least, should the M3x sound as good or better than the 30R?

I picked up a FiiO M6 and it's nice but not as powerful or detailed sounding through 2 nice 2 channel stereo setups. The 30R reveals reverb tails and fine nuances that the M6 does not.

The FiiO M6 is almost as powerful as the XDP-30R @ 32 ohms and can be found used.

In line out mode, that turned out to not be true, The 30R is significantly louder in an A/B test. (And sounds much more detailed!)

Well, I bought the Hiby R5 (non saber) and I love the Android integration. Doing extensive A/B switching, The Pioneer is the better sounding DAP, subtle detail and nuances that show me why people spend big money chasing the extra sound. The Hiby sounds great on it's own but The Pio is better and I didn't spend much on it a few years ago. I will use the Pio for installed content and stream with the Hiby which the Pio struggled with.
