Damn .. i should have opened it up myself too .. I had the same issue as you, sent mine back to Onkyo HK for repairs .. Unit was sent back during Jan 2020, received my phone back in July 2020 ... 6 months of delay due to the chaos and Covid ...

Can you tell me who you contacted at Onkyo? What email or phone number? The Aliexpress seller did not send the battery and I still need to get a battery for my DP-CMX1.

Is the repair service only for in-warranty Granbeats or can they be repaired outside warranty (for a fee) as well?

The 1st slim slot on my granbeat is ruined thus obtaining 4g with my sim is impossible.

I am sure they will repair grey imports, but it's more expensive

UPDATE on my battery search.

The Aliexpress seller didn't actually have the APP00196 battery needed for the DP-CMX1. He refunded me after a dispute was opened.

I've searched and emailed everyone I can think of for months. Onkyo has now been sold to 11trading and they can't help me.

The three battery manufacturers that sold APP00196, GND, HSABAT and Losoncoer don't sell them anymore.

But there my be some good news in DIY land.

I've been researching the flat cable and connector used in the APP00196 battery.

After watching this video (below), it looks like a simple operation to transfer the APP00196 cable to another similar battery.



I've ordered a CAT S40 458002-S40 Battery from Ebay with similar size and specs to APP00196. Fingers Crossed!

In the meantime, Can any of my Asian HeadFi brothers and sisters ask around the local China/Korean/Japan shops for the APP00196 battery?

I will gladly pay a finders fee.

Singapore ? Just bring to your local smartphone or electrical shop. They just crack it open and replace the sockets. I would assume so

Get it before it disappears again. From LOSONCOER. The only issue is they don't show the connector, so I can't verfiy it will connect.

Seller just sent the raw battery, no cable, connector or electronics.

I guess you can try to transfer the electronics and cable to the new battery, since it only has two poles. + and - to solder.

AliExpress has them. They are selling the raw batteries without cables so you will need to transfer old circuit board over and solder + and - contacts. APP00196
