I f I am not mistaken Onix has an option to the settings also so as to choose the source and the host that you want to control the sound? Key mode if I remember right.

Maybe is that the case, I am not sure of course as mine has not arrived yet
I had it it that mode but still the buttons didn't do anything in the Tidal app.
Only after Not giving Tidal access to the Onix it worked

Ok I'm impressed by the driving power he1000se sounded at high volume at 60/100 and very very clean with no distortion besides is wide sounding and every sound come from far, the opposite of in you face... But the "mood" is aseptic I can't feel any emotion, tried with penon vortex, thieaudio elixir and hifiman he1000se and floor hifi equipment and it was always the same, you have to increase volume to feel the impact cause the dynamics are poor or shy. Listened to Sibelius violino concerto and violin was distant and without all the great voice I listen with ifi gryphon but also with colorfly cdm1pro ( fore sure not as refined as onix but with colorfly the violin gets you in heaven with its dynamics), sorry I sent it back, hype hype hype from a lot of reviewers.

A friend of mine was upset but shanling coldness, I imagine that this is a cold shanling sound... Not onix

Dynamic means musicality means emotions I leave the neutrality to someone else, not for me

The Alpha is described by many including myself as " Analog/Organic/Warm" all of these as descriptors are for a smoothed over sound.

For those of you who never grew up with reel to reel , Vinyl and Cassette Tapes, and have not experienced what a true Analog sound is.

And then there is the MP3 generation LOW RES at its finest.

Then HI RES showed up and really let us hear hyper details. To some that sounds unnatural to others its how you think we should be hearing music.

It's all subjective and derives solely on your personal tastes.

But when you hear something described Analog or Organic sounding by reviewers like me over 50 we are living with vinyl memories and using a double deck Cassette unit to mix our own tapes and have a pencil ready!

The Alpha is one such device why I love it is exactly that it is modern in its ability to pull out neaunaces and details in the music and yet has a old school sound without interjection of hyper realistic tonal characters.

You might like the EPZ TP50 better in a dongle to suite more of what you described as important to you.

EPZ TP50 is an another favourite of Donglemadness Andy . TP50 is not a thick sounding dongle also. I like the guy, but he's absolutely a neutralhead. He hate the low end. He listening industrial metal without bass 🙃
Roseselsa rs9039 has great dynamics

Hi just some information about compatibility of this device.

Alpha works with POCO X6 PRO and Hiby R5 (the old one).
But for some reason it's not working good with original USB cable from the box.
It kinda works but not in exlusive mode and eddict player doesn't recognize Alpha.
Everything is fine with other cables. For example with cable from Lotoo PAW S2.

First few hours with the Onix and Arya Organic. Source is Eversolo DMP-6A. Also works on S24 Ultra but that's already mentioned. Not as powerful as KA17, but wider and deeper soundstage and not as much in your face. Loving it.....but also waiting for Ibasso DC07 Pro. But the Onix sure is a masterpiece of a dongle🙂

I'm 49 and onix for sure has smooth sound but is lifeless, as when you passed from a permalloy head Aiwa Walkman to a slim Panasonic walkman with only one AAA battery inside to make it lighter.
I know what is dynamic and Onix is simply boring in that aspect.
And I can discriminate also the difference between ferrite, alnico and neodimium magnet and their influence on sound. Onix has a not offensive dynamics, as some one else stated here before me, that make you listen for longer time without been disturbed.... But at the price of killing musicality. Precisely located instruments but without soul and with just a hint of nasal sound. Remind me the lifeless qwestyle m12 first edition.

Don't think every reviewer has enough experience to reach all the finesse in listening sorry.

I tried many dongle this could be right for heavy genres that have to... Not disturb, is not suited for acoustic/ classical music, it kills every nuance
