ONIX Alpha XI1 - Smallest & Most Affordable ONIX DAC - High-Power Portable USB DAC/AMP

I managed to use the dual usb c cable to power the Onix connected to the Hiby R4 without having to power it using a powerbank or type C charger. Previously, the Onix would not turn on using just the stock cable or any other cable I tried.

The video link shows that this works. Perhaps @Shanling will change their stock cable to this so it will work with all phones now.

The issue is if that cable or any other affordable cable could power up Onix with the mobiles and not with the R4 DAP

So Shanling should provide every one with dual usb cables so their dongle with a competitor's DAC?

I think you are totally missing the point here! Shanling makes very high quality audio equipment like Dacs, amps, and cd players etc. Why can't they frickin' make a simple dual cable like this to fix that incompatibility problem? Go figure.

We reported these cables to our engineers and awaiting their response,

For your testing, please have you tried it with any Android smartphone that was previously incompatible or just this HiBY?

Yes, I have tested this with a few of my friends' phones:

2 x LG6
1x LG V50
3 x Samsung A52 series

And then again, this dongle did not power on using the stock cable when connected with my Hiby R4. But as you can see in the video, it works flawlessly. There must be something in the circuitry of the cable that can power that Onix. I must have tried it 20x and it is stable with no need for a powerbank or type c power source.

I sincerely wish your engineers can figure this out and come up with the appropriate solution.

Hello, I check my A33 which is my secondary phone and the Onix runs with no issues.

The issue that I face is with my primary phone which is a Xiaomi Mi9 SE. As when I try to connect the Onix every time the Onix powers on, but then the dac is not recognized from the phone.

Yesterday I find an old but in very good condition cable which is a USB A-micro USB and then I find two Samsung adapters from a Samsung Galaxy S(somethig) phone which has USB A and micro USB adapters to usb c.

I add the adapters to the cable and when attach the cable to my Mi9 SE, it worked with any issues.

I will attach later a pic if is not clear what I say.

So after this test I believe that the issue with many phones occurs from the standard Onix Alpha cable and with out need of external power supply so as to use other cable.

If this works then taking any IT USB-C high grade cable will work. By this I mean one that's rated for 10Gb/s or better should work.

Is it possible to dim the RGB light or turn off completely? At night the light is too bright.
There is a brightness control, but that could only be for the screen.

I wish the button was a 'multi touch' function control. Its always play/pause or hold long to get into setup... while the bar switch can either control volume or next/prev songs.

The closest you can come is to put the display to sleep. Double click the button. The display turns off and the LED for the button pulses on and off. It’s better than having it stay on all the time, but as far as I know there’s no way to turn it all the way off.
