The OPO is supposed to be able to output 192k natively to the dac (so its above 48k already) with any software, without the use of this usb software (which has its own audio driver).

From where did you get this? Android has a limitation, so I believe it's not like that.

Also used UAPP from Android with files higher than 44100Hz and it stated that it couldn't go above this mark.

I believe the HO is not bad. But from experience now I can say it's a bit smooth. Use it with Fidue A71 and you'll see  But that not bad thing with aggressive IEMs like Altone 200.

With the current OS update to CM12s, I even love this phone even more.  Now I can use my USB dac/amp combo without hesitation.  Android Lollipop 5.0.1 made it friendly to attach USB devices to the device.  Currently using it as my main DAP with my Dragonfly or my Oppo PM-3.

Just read up on this thread, good discussion guys! Just chiming in with a question: since I got my 1+1 I have noticed that the sound through the headphone jack is noticeably sibilant (hissing/static), especially when the treble is boosted VIA MaxxAudio... It is most noticeable at low volumes on quiet tracks (piano, strings, etc). Has anyone else experienced this?

Are you using an IEM? What is the quality of your source?

Noise or sibilant will be present if you're using an IEM on any phone because of all the internal noise from the devices (antenna, power supply).  Second if you're using a low quality mp3, pandora, or spotify noise is coming from the track itself.  Third, even on my DAC's Dragonfly 1.2 or the Oppo HA-2 used as a USB DAC i can still hear noises with my IEM (SHURE 535)

The worst one is that recording itself has the sibilant.

I'm using a pair of ATH-M40X's. Source files were either FLAC/320kbps mp3's through Poweramp, or 320kbps mp3's through Play Music. Another thing to note is that these same files and EQ settings played on my Nexus 5 produced no noticeable sibilance. I was talking with a few guys over at the OnePlus subreddit about this, and they said that there should be almost no noise/hissing when listening to music, and that it could be the result of faulty hardware. Although I am getting the same effect when using Bluetooth, oddly enough.

I cannot confirm your gripe. Out of the four phones I have: oneplus, Nexus 6, Note Edge and Note 3 (the one I'm using taking pictures with) all of the have some sibilant on them using my IEM but almost no noise on my Audeze El-8, Oppo PM-3, Philips Fidelio x2, Sony and mdr-v.  As a matter of fact the sound coming from the headphone jack of Oneplus is the one I prefer than the other 3 phones I have.  There's more color and dynamic range on the Oneplus (thanks to yamaha DAC and output socket.  JBL tweeked the speakers).  I used to like my Edge before because I can listen to TIDAL with my External DAC but since the Lollipop Update my EDGE had been my Gaming, social media and remote control while the Oneplus had been my daily Media consumption (music and video) plus it's the better looking out of the four.

Interesting.  my 1+1 is silent with my se846s, which are notoriously susceptible to hiss.

Hmm... perhaps it is faulty hardware then. The difference between my old Nexus 5 and the OPO, while using the same software equalizer settings, was jarring. I sent in a support ticket to OnePlus last week, which has apparently been forwarded to a hardware specialist. Hopefully they can workout a solution or offer repairs. Good to know it's not a well known issue for this device!

I came from Nexus 5 (broke it, ordered OPO) and my OPO is *much* cleaner, I actually ordered a C5D when I ordered the OPO expecting to need it; and the OPO shocked me a bit.
