Porgy and Bess is fantastic.

My proposal for today is quite different. Louis Prima's The Wildest! is Jazz but it will show up the influences of Jazz music in more modern music styles like Rock & Roll.

This will make you move your feet for sure...

This is also very impressive when she gets going about half way through. She needs to come to Ireland so I can see her live

Does anyone here have any suggestions as to where to start for french Jazz. In particular with french vocals.

This track has got me thinking that I would like to hear some more ¬

Dee Dee Bridgewater - J'ai Deux Amours

Dee Dee lived in France for some time and has regularly featured French tunes on her recordings but I'm pretty sure this is her only completely French album.  If you haven't heard her before, she's one of the finest Jazz vocalists.  One of my favorites of hers would be 'This Is new', Killa!  Also her tribute to Billie Holiday; 'To Billie With Love...' is sensational!

Dee Dee Bridgewater is great.  These are not French but still pretty good:

Dee Alexander,
Carmen Lundy,
Jeri Brown,
Melody Gardot,
Eliane Elias (Jammin'),
Joani Taylor,
Eva Cassidy (Live at Blues Alley)..

Heard of Gardot and Cassidy. I'm not a Cassidy fan at all. I'll check out the rest. Thanks for the shoutout

Listening to this album tonight.  For most of my jazz life I've stuck to the smaller group recordings...after some of the recommendations in this thread I'm exploring some of the larger group ensembles.  I"ve been missing out...
