Just wait until you hear Lambdas.

You are not yet ready, young one. There is a dark, mystical secret concerning the AD700's you must learn, but to find the truth you must first start 17 additional threads asking the same question over and over again.

They're the best I've heard in the <$300 pricerange O_O

I have yet to hear any headphones in the $200 or above range, but so far I do prefer the somewhat more expensive DR-150's over them by a fair margin.

I have the Closed A700 and I love them. I game, watch movies and hear music with them. I'm very impressed and I like them a lot. Don't regret paying for them. But now I'll be buying the AD700 either by the end of the month or next. I really like Audio Technica. To me they sound good.

Read: That he's heard. That shall most likely change once he goes electrostatic.
He did have HD580s, but preferred the AD700s. That enough to convince you?

Stax's sound is impressive, but it's not for everyone. Now if we're talking about comfort, I think the Lambda tops any Denon.

Are you serious? The HD650 only costs $250 or so.

While I have not heard the HD650, I did prefer the AD700's to the HD580's, K701's, MS1's and DT880's.

They all have their strengths and weaknesses. I just prefer the AD700.

The DT880's however, did come very close. And I can see why some people could prefer the HD580's to the AD700's.

I've given up on dynamics in the <$300 pricerange. The next set I will buy will be Lambda's

What do you look for the most in a headphone in terms of SQ? That might tell us why you prefer the AD700 to all the others.

Yes for the mids, I don't really mind the colour of the sound. I also like the energy, massive soundstage and airyness.

So I see that you're an airhead like myself and don't mind the coloration that makes female vocals sound so nice.

Well, I love a 3D soundstage and pinpoint imaging also.
