All right, guys, let's do this. If attending, post below with your gear list and I'll add your name. Larry (wavoman) got us a huge place this year in the same area as last year (East Hanover) , so it's no-hold-barred, pack 'em in. Bring EVERYONE!

First, we need to lay down some rules.

THE RULES:

1) Shower the morning of the meet. Use shampoo. Shampoo twice if necessary. Wash hands after lunch (even bread, if oily, can get on your hands and onto someone's equipment)

2) Do not remove any items from somebody's rig and move them without their permission. Once you're finished, return them.

3) Do not attempt to swap tubes in anyone's rig without their surveillance. Hot-swapping of anything, especially tubes, is strongly discouraged and can permanently ruin certain pieces of equipment.

4) Again, don't hog an entire table. We don't have enough room for everyone to have their own, in fact, we don't even have enough room for everyone to have half of a table, so be conservative. Some people will have more stuff, some will have less. It'll work out, just be sensible. Last year we spent too much time on setup. I felt stupid, so I want to make this year more efficient. The sooner my ears have headphones on them, the better.

5) DO NOT EAT OR DRINK NEAR EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT (and also, wash your hands after eating and before touching other equipment). My laptop is the only thing in my entire rig that is spillproof, and very few things at the meet will be!

================================================

Since we felt squeezed last year, I tried to find more space. Looks like the Ramada in East Hanover is the ticket.

Ramada Inn & Conference Center

It does not give me a lot of confidence that the link for "Meeting & Banquets" is a broken url (and poor English besides), but let's hope there are no other screw ups!

Anyway if we agree to be out by 5 p.m. sharp we can have two sections of the main ballroom (first floor, no lugging of gear!) which is 1900 square feet. Whoo Hooo! That's like 100 people. So we can really spread out. NYC Meets -- eat your heart out!

Our office admin booked this, I haven't been over there yet, but I hear it is re-modeled. I will go in a few weeks (I am away prior) and be sure we get enough tables.

There is a great sports bar on premise so we can drift there at 5 pm while others load their cars, then we have a bazillion places for dinner -- Macaroni Grill was last year's choice, I think it worked, and it is even closer to this hotel. But lots of other options.

Same as last year -- do a big jar, take room donations, and I will cover the rest (or give to charity any overage -- New Jersey Food Bank like last year, OK?).

They provide only water pitchers and mints, so hide coke and Snapple in your backpacks.

Contract will arrive by email next week and I will sign and pay by credit card unless you all stop me first.

Someone else will take care of name badges, etc. ?? (I am not an official organizer).

Like NYC, I will bring cut-to-size Velcro one-wrap for your PMP+AMP combo, plus some solid maple isolation blocks (without the Cardas logo they cost about 941% less than the audio catalog price). These can be had if you drop a donation in the jar -- one custom cut strap or one block per greenback dropped. It takes three blocks to support each piece of gear Mapleshade says, and who the hell wouldn't want that horse blanket pulled off their speakers?

===========

1. The Ramada has agreed that we can shrink down into one room at 5 pm and stay until 8 pm. So we start with Excelsior+Imperial and at 5 pm squeeze in to just Excelsior.

2. We are guaranteed 15 tables, 6 ft x 2 1/2 ft. They will try for 18, but no promises. Three chairs per table.

Life is good.

ADDRESS:

Ramada
130 Route 10 West
East Hanover, NJ 07936
(973) 386-5622

THE TIMELINE:

8:00 - Set up, meet and greet, eat bagels and other junk food, attach nametags.
9:00(ish) - Hopefully we'll be set up and everyone can just go at it.
11:00-2:00 - lunch (on your own) - We're going to avoid eating lunch as a group because leaving thousands on dollars worth of gear alone is a terrible idea.
2:30-3:00 - Silent half hour of listening. Want to hear someone's open-headphone rig more closely? Now is the time! Just don't talk about it!
4:30 - Go crazy, break down half the room into the other half of the room
5:00 - Must have everything moved into the Excelsior room.
6:45 - Amps off, raffle!
7:00 - Break down
8:00 - Macaroni Grill! (or other establishment containing food)

Sweet! I'll be there around 1:30pm. Now that I work on Sat. till 1, it will cut down on the meets I attend. Glad you found a room in E. Hanover which is closer to my work than to my home. See you all there.
