The other option is to try and remove the black rod ends, and then slide the whole headphone cup assemby out that way, but i got no idea how easy it is to remove them.

On all current Grados, the "black rod ends" are just glued in place. They come off with a firm twist. Use a tiny drop of superglue to reattach it.

Even though I have pulled apart the headband on two Grados (MS-1 and SR-60), I would not dare do this on my $700 MS-Pros (nor would I have any reason to do so).

I still don't quite understand exactly what issue you are having with the RS-1 headband. How is it "too long"?

I was not really sure about that (fell the pad was some kinda too low) but since i use Beyerdynamic headband i know for sure Grado headband are too long,

Got me interested,
How is he too long?

what may be your head dimensions?
can you post a picture of them on your head?

Cheers,
Jim.

Try it with your sr60's, if it works, then transfer the rs-1 drivers onto it.

You comfirm my thought, the solution so is a padded headband who will be coating my RS-1 rather then replace my headband with something like the on model you build

Well it's just that earcup fall too low on my ears, i didn't knew that but look i have a small head (or Grado headphone are made for big head)

So i need a padded headband to rectify this, Beyerdynamic do the job well for This point, but he don't fit RS-1 headband so he look ugly (see pics on the link at begining of this thread)

I think I visualize your problem now. Here is what I would do if I were you (it is drastic)...separate one of the plastic blocks from the metal headband and slide off leather headband as I described in my DIY post. Use a saw to shorten the metal headband. The metal is not that thick so you may even be able to cut it with metal shears. Trim down both ends of the leather headband and reinstall everything. You may have to restitch the threads on the end of the headband.

My DIY headband design can't accomodate padding that is thick enough to make the headphone fit better on your head, so that won't solve your problem. Besides, I am not interested in shipping anything overseas anyways.

Yesterday you said "Even though I have pulled apart the headband on two Grados (MS-1 and SR-60), I would not dare do this on my $700 MS-Pros" and now you tell me to not only remove the plastic block but to use a saw to shorten the metal headband

Plus the leather headband of RS-1 will be too long in that solution anyway

OK then. Since you're obviously not the Do-It-Yourself type, I suggest cutting off the RS-1 headband and removing it completely. You can do this without having to pull anything apart. You can now then attach the Beyer headband directly on the metal headband by itself. You may have to cut a rectangular piece of cardboard in order to have something for the Beyer headband to wrap around.

Will be a crime to cutting off the RS-1 headband
