So there is no plan to have m3u playlist on x3
Thought x3 and x5 will share the same firmware base

C. Added to the firmware updating plan, but requiring longer development time—no firm schedule
1. Adding display of total number of songs and number of songs on internal storage and TF card under System Settings->Info / Storage.
2. Adding support for larger size and higher resolution cover image.
3. Adding support for m3u playlists.
4. Path memory function for Now Playing screen.

My interests are;
1.) mp3 bit depth fix,
2.) less crashy fix,
3.) play through folders in alphabetical order,
4.) recording track play history to text file on SD Card for scrobbling purposes, even ignoring time which could be approximated backward from present moment via track duration by software on the computer side if the fiio x3 can't keep track of actual time. If it could just keep a list of the tracks that it has played and maybe a CRC of the file then we could figure the rest out ourselves. Even if we have to insert the file CRC into the ID3 tag ourselves before copying it to the Fiio X3 for the text file to contain that information because that can be done on the PC also. The only thing that we absolutely rely on Fiio to do for us to be able to scrobble is keep a simple list of tracks-played saved in some manner somewhere accessible via PC. If that is at all possible, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Taking a second look I see there is a plan for m3u support that's great
scrobling would be nice but the one thing I miss from idevicez are playback statics

i don't miss scrobbling at all anymore.. i remember me and a few others asking back when the X3 was still in development for a scrobble function.
now i'm glad they did other stuff (DAC function) instead.

Yes, I believe it was promised sometime ago, but without playlist or multiple folder support it becomes redundant.

Agreed on the DAC function, that is solid gold as far as I'm concerned. I can't stress that enough for people who are on the fence about whether or not to buy an X3, or presumably an X5 but I've never heard one, for the DAC function alone it is worth the asking price (speaking as someone without a boss who spends most of his time in front of his laptop). Add to that the fact that it does a great job (with some caveats) of playing back your audio file collection in standalone mode and it's a great buy. Scrobbling is only 4th on my list, it's a bugbear because it seems like it should be so easy to dump the names of files played onto a .txt file and let us do the rest that I can't really understand why it wouldn't be done. Unless, of course, Fiio decide not to clutter their user interface with functions that aren't going to be used by >x% of their customers which is understandable but it's a marketing decision and I hate marketing people ;^p. Even if they could grep a "not-officially-supported-configuration-file" or something on startup that'd kick ass. Otherwise I'm just left hoping that a rockbox developer gets his hands on a fiio Xwhatever.
Even my sisters ancient Denon seperates system sounds better from the line-out on the X3 than it does from any other source (including it's own internal sources, various generation iPods including latest 160gb whatever). It's like magic sauce that makes everything audio better. My DAP/DAC is now the strongest link in my audio system and for what I paid, I've got no grounds to complain, but for the things mentioned above. Including scrobbling ;^)

@Joe
Could you maybe consider adding an improvement of track skipping behaviour as described in bugzilla Bug #54 to your list (preferably under B)?
Short version of bug description:
If you press the "previous" button during the first 9 seconds of a song it always skips to the previous song whereas it skips to beginning of the current playing song from the 10th second onwards. This is completely counterintuitive and pretty annoying! The time threshold should be changed from 10 to 1 second! In other words: If the first second of a song is elapsed pressing previous/rewind should skip to the beginning of the currently playing song instead of the previous song!
I assume this should be pretty easy to fix and therefore be included in the upcoming firmware release!
Thanks!

The biggest problem by far IMO, and I don't see it scheduled to be addressed, is how slow and inaccurate it is to navigate between tracks.
Is that going to be fixed?

Wouldn't most, if not all, of these issues be resolved by allowing the X3 to be Rockboxed?

This has been asked since the X3 was still in devellopment. It won't be rockboxed because the firmware isn't open source, because it uses proprietary code, as coded by the people who made it to FiiO's specifications.

Unless Fiio does what Sandisk did.
I don't know about you all, but X3 Rockboxed is a dream. All they really have to do is release the code....wouldn't it be a win/win?
