Official Effect Audio Axiom discussion & impressions thread

I must say, I made an attempt to swap the MMCX for two-pin but decided I did not want to destroy the earphones, so I chickened out.
I had the exact same thought as well. I’m just leaving it on 2 pin since majority of my cables are 2 pin. Lol lol

Hi guys,

We’d love to get your input on the following. As I previously mentioned on the EA thread, we’re looking into developing new upcoming modules to tweak the sound.

So, we’d love to hear what you find important. For those that have heard the Axiom, which area would you like to adjust if you were in control?

For those that haven’t heard Axiom, please feel free to share what you generally find important considering Axiom’s tuning. I’d briefly summarize it as having somewhat of a ‘fun’ tuning with an impactful bass and a neutralish tone with slightly laidback upper mids and a smooth treble. Impressions have varied of course, but just as a starting point.

Please share any thoughts, we’re listening!

Personally I find the Axiom is pretty versatile for anything. However i’d prefer the mids to have a little more texture then it’ll be perfect in terms of my preference and setup. :))

Hi guys, first time is indeed a bit tricky. You need to insert your nail at the bottom part and wiggle a bit, then it comes loose. Next times it's easier :relaxed:

Well another Axiom wouldn’t hurt :p
Also will there be a place to demo Axiom, whether it’s a Canjam or whatnot?
Sure, should be possible at your local dealers and upcoming Canjams. If you want to try one from us you can also contact the team at info@effectaudio.com.

The concept of the modular system is novel so I may be way off the mark. However, these are my thoughts, as I understood it, the options do include drivers, as that section is not interchangeable, so a planar magnetic driver is not an option.

It is rather odd that I couch my questions in the negative, not my usual approach but I imagine, I am trying to visualise how it would work instead of asking, so put simply is a planar magnetic driver (as a module) an option?

Is it possible to have an open back Axiom?
Excellent question Chris. The module serves more as an extension of the crossover, so we can't change the driver configuration but tweak their sound if that makes sense.

I have to say, I do not normally like SPC cables. I find them harsh, but the review unit I got for the Axiom came with (i think) a Virtuoso SPC cable, and it really sounds fantastic! I'm very surprised but I do not hear any harshness at all, it's very smooth...it really controls the bass and brings the mids and highs to life. My Earsonics Onyx sounds great on the cable as well, it really brings the dual BA drivers in the mids to life! Very surprised.

I haven't heard it (yet), but I'd have no hesitation in seconding your comment regarding adding bone conduction drivers to it.

Aside from that, my thoughts could be summed up with the idea of "contrast and choice".

What's the benefit of having an IEM with swappable modules? For me, my immediate thought is: to have two or more truly diverse sound signature choices!

As an approximation, think something like EE Evo, VE EXT, UM Fusang/MasonFS.
Of course I'm not expecting identical levels of performance, but talking more in terms of complementary and contrasting sound signatures, each offering something truly unique.
As I said, I haven't yet heard the Axiom so these are just the thoughts that, as I sip my coffee, percolated in my mind in response to your question :D

And also, for future Axiom releases, a small ABS plastic flat-headed screwdriver-type tool for levering off the module :xf_wink:

If your talking open back/ and/or planars, I'm down! :smirk_cat:
