Been pretty pleased with the nuForce HDP dac/amp combination. I do everything with this unit. Music, gaming and movies. Using optical, found USB was hit or miss with certain games. Using Beyer 770&880s. Also using Sony 5ks.

I'm not that experienced with dac/amp combos and was wondering what would be an upgrade from this unit?

I don't have any specific complaints, just wanted opinions. I've always coveted the dac1, and seems like the used prices are in my range.

I'm totally ok if the opinion is keep the HDP. Just wanted to get some opinions and recommendations, I'd keep a look out on the forum for a used one. I appreciate your time.

I'm looking to upgrade from the nuForce HD and would also like to hear opinions on this topic.  I'm using sennheizer hd600's and am going to try Schiit's bifrost / asgard 2 combo.  I'll post my thoughts on the hd/hdp vs the schiit stack when the schiit arrives.  Btw, are you using the 600ohm Beyer's?

Lorspeaker do you have any experience with the single ended version of your dac/amp? Do you think it would still be a better option than the Nuforce HDP or Schiit Bifrost/Asgard2?
This one? http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/Headphoneamp/NFB5/NFB5EN.htm  Thanks.  I'm thinking about trying it out if the Schiit stack fails to impress.  I don't plan on going balanced anytime soon and it would save me some cash.

i tot  u already ordered the schiit stack...? :p

i get frustrated when i cant plug in a fullsize powercord into the HD/HDP...:p
had the asgard for a month, tot its kinda aggressive, not sure about the improved version.
The Lyr stayed with me for almost a year, just gave it away...i liked the LYR, its got WARMTH. POWER.

The Audiogd on single ended is powerful enough...my hd650 doesnt run out of steam on single ended.
There is a high low gain switch, and some sampling filters to slightly modulate how much clarity u want..
i find this v useful when i have cans of differing resolving abilities.

first time i heard this amp, the sense of realism, the warm tall deep airiness of the sound hits me madhappy.
And it is very scalable as u switch in some "good" cables.. ( ya i know a ton of folks think nothing about cables. )
