I did it. I frankensteined a Technics RP-FT30 and a Sennheiser HD497. I took the drivers and the detachable cable assembly off the HD497 and stuck them inside the FT30. First impressions before any tuning are surprisingly good. There's boxiness and some harshness to be cured, but it's doable. What I get is a much more comfortable semi-closed circumaural HD497 with angled drivers, which also happens to be more robust.

Hello, dear H-F veteran...!, I'm just a "newbie" here....,

Hence this is my first post. Sooo, I'm very keen to see this Techni-Heiser Monster, although with no chances left (almost 10 (!!) years has passed). I have to say that mine stock RP-FT30 anniversary set IS STILL ALIVE since October or November 2002!!! Such a sturdy and robust construction!! Still sounds quite pleasantly and impressively after all these years! However, unfortunately, thin pleather layer gone completely and cusions starts hurting my big ears after half an hour... Hope that there's someone out there left with them alive too.

Cheers,
Vykintas
