What small in size and portable amps are well suited to the HD 650? Maybe that's why they sound flat compared to the d2000. When I run both without the amp through an iPod, the d2000 does sound sharper and i thought it was an apple to apple comparison, but maybe the HD 650 needs to be amped to properly evaluate when using an iPod?
