I currently have an Onkyo 6.1 home theater. I am confused about what cables I should get to create better sound.

When I first bought the system, I bought some entry level Monster Cables just so I would not have to stock cable sound. It is getting time that I want some better cables.

I just want something that is simple.
What are some cables that you would suggest for me to buy to connect the speakers to the receiver?

Each wire does not have to be too long. I have a small 15 by 16 room setup.

Budget: 0-$200 for the complete cables.

EDIT: I am not using the back surround speaker.

Thanks

You need to give a bit more system detail, like what kind of speakers you have. And with the budget you give you probably can't do much better than the entry level monster cables. Do you know that some other cable will be an improvement, maybe your local hifi store will lend you some other cables to try out - the one I used to live near was happy to do this because they knew it would help make a sale. It's a small room but six lengths of wire, go for anything even moderately expensive and your budget is gone. You should probably just buy some more CDs or DVDs.

What you have is good enough.

Save yourself $200.

If you really want to buy, then get 20 amp building wire (Thick solid core stuff). Very cheap, very good.

Based on your source, I'm not sure you can do better than the Monster kit you bought. Put the money into something else that you want, rather than something that may not give you a return on your investment.

Why do you need 4 of these?

How are you regular interconnects?

I think it's a very bad way.
You wont notice any "real improvement".

If you do decide to buy that. You can always cut the 1 wire up into 4 pieces if it's long enough for your needs.

$200 is alot to spend on speaker cabling.

I spent like $10 on my speaker cabling

Beats pretty much all other cabling.

Save your money. I think cables should be the last thing you upgrade. If you have the money spend it elsewhere. i.e. source.

I also want to ask everyone wouldn't some good interconnects be more noticeable sonically than speaker cable?(sorry for thread jacking)

I do not really understand what interconnects are and do?

They connect your source to your amp usaully with RCA's.

I think its the other way round.

Speaker cables would make much more of a difference.

Make sure it's solid core not the stranded stuff and thick

Ctn,
Have you done any comparisons of the solid core house wire that you are using vs. say zip cord or cheap speaker wire? If so, what differences did you find?
Thanks
