NOS DAC better than Nobsound TDA1387??

If the output caps are bipolar electrolytics in the original, maybe I could try some Audio Note Kaiseis. I suspect the genuine Shigaraki may use NOS Black Gates…

Dunno about the 47 dac. Bypass those cap (short ‘em out) and use a DMM to measure volts at output jacks . If it’s in mV range, leave shorted and listen.

If you’d scrolled back a few posts, you would know that I ordered a 47 Labs Shigaraki clone from Lusya Technology Store on AliExpress. It took a while to arrive.

It’s been running for about an hour now, so the electrolytic capacitors should have had a chance to form. It is getting better. Transparency is improving and the bass is tightening up a little now, but the treble remains severely rolled-off. Presumably the output caps will have to go.
Mine sounds fantastic after break in. However, that's after bypassing the output capacitors. And note that it doesn't play very loudly.

I‘ve decided against bypassing the output caps, as my amplifier has no DC blocking caps on the input. Instead, I’ve ordered some nice Russian NOS PIOs (10uF). Of course, they will need to go outside the case…

Now those MBGOs are sweet AF! Who cares if how much they actually degrade the sonics (vs. no caps)!! I'd get 'em just for bling, or investment, or converting them to ... I dunno ... NFT's, maybe?
It never ceases to to amaze me how much the audiophile community just can't spendin' $$.

And BTW, how does the 47 Labs DAC sound after break in?

Better, but still not great. I blame those output caps.

The PIOs probably won’t sound as good as no cap at all, but they will sound much better than blown headphone drivers!

Did you get a chance to listen to PCM56 ? And if so, how does it compare with TDA1387 ? My preference is for warmth and body like the tube sound...
I liked the 56 a lot...until mine died. I have a different version on order and will report back when I get it.

The 56 was a bit more atmospheric than the 1387, with a more open treble.

I recently bought a TDA1305, which has the sound you are looking for. I find it very smooth, with a bit more body than the 1387.

Would you mind posting the product link ? Thanks.

Thanks for the thoughts!
谢谢你的想法!

I searched for reviews and couldn't find any. Nor could I find anything on the designer "Lee's HiFi Studio". It is a shame that there's no additional info or reviews - it seems to me that there's quite a nice story to tell here.
我搜索评论,但是没有找到。我也找不到任何关于设计师“李的高保真工作室”的东西。遗憾的是没有额外的信息和评论——在我看来,这里有一个相当不错的故事可以讲。

If the primary weakness is its USB input, then I will have no choice than to buy an outboard DDC 😁. (I am really eager to hear your feedback about the one you bought - that is the one I would get).
如果主要的弱点是其 USB 输入,那么我将别无选择,只能购买外置 DDC。(我真的很想听听你对你买的那件的反馈意见——那就是我想要的那件。)。
It sounds a bit like a DIY product from China/nBut I'm not so sure (I bought a TDA1387 decoder also sold by Lee's hifi)
