guilty as charged

hope you all have a great time at the meet, I am really bummed out to be missing it but work commits make it impossible.

I hope to make it out for any fall gatherings, see you all soon

I think it's a good idea to repeat the date, time, location and other basics on each page of the thread. Please correct or update anything below:

Date/Time: Saturday February 27th from 9:30am to 6pm

Location: DoubleTree Hotel, 835 Airport Blvd., Burlingame, California, United States 94010-9949

San Francisco Hotels - Hotels near San Francisco Airport - Doubletree San Francisco Airport

Not sure what your travel arrangement issues are, but people share rides all the time at meets. Or, you could just take CalTrain to Broadway Station in Burlingame and end up 3 minutes from the hotel.

The table sign-up will be open for as long as we appear to have space. If you have portable stuff mostly, then bring some and carry it around to show it or use it. Bring some full-size cans to try on other people's rigs, or just use theirs. You can set it up with one of your DAPs if there is room, or you can see if somebody with a home source would be interested in adding it to their rig so people can check it out.

Lots of options!

Anyone: Please bring a 2008 or newer (white/metal mesh) Senn HD650 and/or HD800.... I've read that 2008+ HD650s sound brighter, more forward, less veiled, possibly tighter bass. The replacement of a black silk with a white metal mesh for sound absorption seem to be associated with this change. I like my older one (with Cardas cable, and having removed the protective foam) but recognize limitations. Same goes for any cables for comparison. I've heard raves about other cables, but need to hear for myself. Thanks!

Thanks Stoney, it is good to keep repeating the date even though it is in the thread title.

There has been a little interest in getting some social events going on Friday evening, and I encourage those coming into town or locals just interested in starting early to post ideas in the thread and get something going. You hotel folks could simply pick a spot to meet in the hotel and hang out there, or you could get a little adventurous and head into SF.

I already had tickets for a great jazz show in SF on Friday night, so I am heading to that along with some other Head-Fiers. It is saxophonist Joshua Redman performing solo in Grace Cathedral, which should be a spectacular show. We have Premium GA tickets, which means the front section of pews, but the whole thing is general admission. Here is the link, and tickets are still available: Joshua Redman Concert Friday 2/26.

Anybody who is interested in going post it up in the thread. If a crew from the hotel wants to link up with us in SF for the show or even after the show around 9:30pm, then that would be cool. Get organized, people!

Hello All,
I would like to attend this event. I have been holding off buying Head-Fi related gear until I was sure I could attend ie: source's, amps, dac's etc... I just recently came upon this Head-Fi "passion" last December when I purchased the UE Triple.Fi 10, to use with my Smartphone, from someone selling it off craigslist. I did not believe the hype until I tried them. I am now convinced in Audiophile Headphone "bliss". I am both anxious and excited in attending this meet, as I have been reading this site (daily) trying to acquire some foundational knowledge when listening to new gear. From the posts that I have read so far in this thread, this seems to be a close community of wonderful people.

I have read the rules for newbs which seem straight forward. I think I am ready.

By the way - I was hoping some of you could post your thoughts and experiences with some of items that you think a novice should check out, being brought to the the meet.
Thanks in advance

aameford gear update:
Sold the D5000's, bought a pair of D7000's, so I'll bring them unless I return them...

I can probably bring a Dacmagic if anyone is curious, I just bought it, it should arrive by Saturday. PM me if you want me to bring it. - Requested, so if it arrives in time, I'll bring it along.

My IEM's are currently Westone 3's. Plan on bringing your own tips if you would like to try them. I'll try and remember some alchohol swabs, or maybe some Scotch and cotton balls...

Looks like the DIYMod won't make it in time.

The Westone 3's might be up for sale, so might the D7000's. Still searching for the right closed can and IEM... If you think you have something that will fit the bill for me, bring 'em along. I'll try and remember to bring some $, and there is always paypal by phone... Edit - As FrankCooter below offered, if it is something closed that I should hear to help me decide, I would be grateful if you brought it along, and sought me out! Thank you all!

I'm excited. Looks like I'm clear to go!

Not for sale, but if you'd like a listen, I have a pair of JVC DX-1000 I can bring along.

Meet in 4 days!

Date/Time: Saturday February 27th from 9:30am to 6pm

Location: DoubleTree Hotel, 835 Airport Blvd., Burlingame, California, United States 94010-9949

San Francisco Hotels - Hotels near San Francisco Airport - Doubletree San Francisco Airport

I am attaching a room layout with my best shot at a distribution of the available space. Please stick to the table assignments and if there is some need to re-jigger we will assess that on Saturday. Asr will be in charge of opening the room hopefully around 9am and will hopefully have a copy or two of the layout.

If you plan to attend and do not see your name on the Attendee List below, please post in this thread and we will add you. If you are hoping for some room to show your gear on a table and do not see your name on the room layout and your stuff in the Gear List below, please post in this thread and we will try to fit you in. On the other hand, if you said you want table space and now cannot make the meet or do not intend to bring gear, or I just put you on the chart and you really do not want any table space, post that up too so we can plan to use the space for somebody else.

I don't think we will have room for a For Sale or Trade table, but trading at meets is fine. Bring a card with info and stand it up by your gear if you are trying to sell or trade it.

BRING POWER STRIPS AND EXTENSION CORDS FOR YOURSELF AND AN EXTRA 1-2 IF YOU HAVE THEM.

Anyone have an extra spdif source or two handy? I typically use my PS3 or my macpro, neither of which are very portable. Worse case, I'll bring my laptop and use usb and/or my cheapo cd/clock/radio that does happen to have optical out at least.

if you remind me, I can bring an spdif splitter/repeater. buffered (semi reclocking, actually). one input and I think it had 4 coax outs and 2 opto outs (concurrent).
