NorCal, San Francisco Bay Area Meet 2/27/2010
Jan 6, 2010 at 11:07 PM Post #31 of 235
I am going to try and make it for this, depending on weather. As much as I would love to listen and bring my stuff it is not fun driving over the pass when I have to put chains on.

Sweet! I'm more than likely to come. I am new to this and would like to hear some of the equipment and headphones everybody talks about. This would be a great learning experience. Thanks for organizing this. Appreciated!

I just checked, and I will be able to make it to this one. I have parts heading my way for an eXStata tube hybrid build, but not sure I will be finished in time (not to mention that I have no headphones yet).

If folks are interested, I can bring a three channel B22 (if it hasn't sold yet) and my balanced B22 as well. Both can be fed with my Buffalo 32S and people can A/B the systems if they like. Hmm... I need a transport though... anyone have something relatively portable with an optical out they'd like to offer up? Or I can use my gamma1 with USB from my macbook if necessary.

Bringing my AKG K240DF and K240S. Curious how they stack up against phones I read about here, and with pro amplification.

I am very new to all of this and just ordered some akg-701s. I am interested to go to this meet and check out for myself some of this gear I hear so much about on these boards. This will really be cool, looking forward to my first real foray into high quality audio...

As another guy named Al once said rather infamously, "I am in control here."

JP has stepped aside as lead organizer for this meet because he has other things going on in his life and he may not be able to attend, although I am trying to control that situation too.

Anyway, we are moving forward in any case, and I wanted to post up some details. I have secured a great room at the Doubletree Hotel in Burlingame, which is the same place we had for the last Bay Area meet near the SF airport.

Date/Time: Saturday February 27th from 9:30am to 6pm

Location: DoubleTree Hotel, 835 Airport Blvd., Burlingame, California, United States 94010-9949

San Francisco Hotels - Hotels near San Francisco Airport - Doubletree San Francisco Airport

We have a different room but it is very similar in size to the larger meet room from August. It also opens onto a courtyard that we can use as a talking area so as to minimize the chatter while people are trying to listen to gear. Here is the floor plan and we have the Sequoia and Redwood rooms:

Please post whether you want some table space and what gear you are planning to bring if you have not already done so. We will post this information and a gear list in the first and second posts of the thread for easy reference. Make sure you ping your Bay Area pals who were at the last meet or other meets or have always said they wanted to go to a meet. Depending on the number of attendees, be prepared to pony up $10-20 to cover the room expense. It isn't mandatory, but I'm not planning on footing $800 for myself.

Voltron,

Excellent, thanks for picking things up. Count me in, I need very little space - Shanling CD T-100 and two sets of cans

Also please post hotel rates (hopefully discounted
