Is it just me, or is it getting really hard to find this HP?

I have spent several weeks trying to get a decent pair of HD580.

I have lost 3 auctions on ebay all at the very end for very competitive prices (all >$155) for this phone

I recently waited 2 weeks for athome-products dot com to tell me that they canceled my order because they didn't have the headphones, which interrupted my WTB post. My dad ordered them without telling me so I had to tell the three people who made offers to me that I had already found a pair.

Ugh...and my new USB dac ships out tomorrow.

All I will have to listen to it on are my HD485.

Is it worth searching so hard in order to get a used pair of HD580 with the low supply and high demand these days? I'll bump my WTB post just in case

sorry for venting

i just posted a wtb here and got several offers within a 3 day span. I ended up paying 140 shipped, but i think the low supply and high demand for these has caused a spike in price. Good luck in your search! Be patient!

I suppose if your prices are getting up high enough, you might just want to get a pair of hd600s... I've got the HD580s with 600 grills and a 650 cable, and I'm told that the HD600s are pretty much the same, although I haven't directly compared the two cans.

Well when I picked mine up a few months ago (when you could still get them from brianf) they were $169. So to hear they are going for $155 is not a surprise.

Sennheiser USA is selling refurbished HD-580s for $190. If money is tight, I'd sell off a few CDs or whatever to make up the difference. They'd come with a warranty, too. You might also want to poke around Audiogon for a HD-600 around $200-$225.

I forgot to mention, Sennheiser is OUT of the HD580. how much does that suck?

:| That's too bad

In steed of the 580's you can get the HD600 which is a very widely used reference headphone. A used one will stretch that budget a little bit more though

Not hard at all.
Just raise your bid above what others are willing to pay. Woila!
