Yep.

Basically, all you need to know is higher impedance = harder to drive (usually) and high SPL = goes louder.

Both of which is not really relevant to headphone hi-fi.

okay then. so what stats can be used to determine sound quality? obviously frequencies response can help a little but not a whole lot. and the only other one i can think of is distortion which could be a pretty good indicator i guess but i feel liike there should be more stats to go off of

There is nothing on the box or on the specs sheet of headphones that will tell you how good a pair of headphones are; the only real way is to listen to them, or to ask others how they sound. There are just so many tiny characteristics that are involved, nothing is for sure.
