I'd take the 650 over the Denon any day of the week if those are the only options.

I was never so bored listening to the 650 so I always stuck with the Grado 325i and now the Dennon 5000 is my favorite for rock and metal with a very good amplifier they are tight defined. I see so many 650's for sale compared to the 5000 or 7000 Denon which sell right away. It's a personal call.

The HD650 and LCD-2 fit those specifications the best. However I would like to say that I own both and I certainly say they do not have large sound stage. They are larger than Denon for sure but still narrow in comparison to phones that are really known for sound stage like the K701 and HD800.

If you're talking about absolutely zero sibilance, HD650 and LCD-2 are sure fire hits. The only Denon I've listened to analytically is the D2000 and I found it extremely prone to sibilance.

If this is of any help, I've owned the HD650, and I currently own the D7000. While you'll receive more sub-bass from the D5000, the HD650 has the mids you seek and has better imaging. Truthfully, after I read your OP, I immediately thought of the HD650.
Another consideration is price. I doubt the D5000's price will dip under the HD650's.

How much better do you guys whom have experience with both, consider the soundstage to be on the HD650 vs the Denon AH-D5000?
