What do you guys think, the ASL Wave 8 or this?

Just looking for a modest second system for the living room. Probably will be running PSB Alphas and a Mapletree ear preamp

The kit since DIY is cool.

Get the Wave 8's and upgrade them with premium components or wait for the Wave 20s if you need more power (not sure about the price.) Most people upgrade the reservoir caps and the coupling caps. I've heard people from people who have used Auricaps with great results.

Lots of people have had success with upgrading the Wave 8s and the DIY kit doesn't have a chassis plus I don't think you can easily tube roll it. Also the Wave 8s work right out of the box no DIY required.

Are you sure the PSB Alphas will be efficient enough??

This is the same amp that is talked about here.

It would be more fun/educational to go the DIY route, but if you are all thumbs then go with the ASLs.

As far as the Alphas, what is their sensitivity rating?
If it's 90dB or over then any of these amps will be fine for anything under concert levels.
