Take some more * and forget it.

Imbibed of Swans a week ago, played Sydney.  What's with the jesus crap?  Good show apart from that.

I am now of the opinion that Gira is a genius and a wanker.

those are both mathcore. Noise rock has some elements of that genre, but mathcore is much more constructed and progressive.

See King Snake Roost, Kittens, Shallow, North Dakota, Scratch Acid just to name a couple

Oh heck yes.  I've been listening to noise and noise rock lately, so I definitely wanna watch this thread.

Haven't seen Merzbow or Keiji Haino mentioned yet.  Also Melt-Banana.  I think Liars' album Drum's not Dead qualifies.  On the more melodic end of things,  I think Deerhoof and Xiu Xiu are notable for having occasional chaotic/noise elements in their music.

I've been snapping up nearly every Boris and Boredoms album I can find lately.

, some of Jim O'Rourke's stuff,

I remember being totally taken by Jim O'Rourke when I heard Eureka and Insignificance, and then being totally "What?" and disappointed when I found I'm Happy, and I'm Singing, and 1,2,3,4.  I'm so glad I didn't get rid of that.  Found it again years later and enjoy the hell out of it.  I just got a copy of Tamper last week and it's similarly cool.

What else has O'Rourke done ambient or noise wise?

Peril & Player Piano were two old Jap noise groups featuring Hideki Kato.

a-typical sample of Peril

Tony Buck (of the above) is also kingpin of [projekt] Transmit

and The Necks (more noise than jazz)
