I want to be able to hear my iems better in noisy environments without turning up the volume. Will a headset (like for shooting) work well over iems?

I will be excercising, so heat is a concern.

mufflers you mean? yah they work with iems no problem... but there is a certain amount of heat and comfort problem when exercising with stuff over your head and ears.........

James444 tested this very idea out...in summary he found that while it worked to a certain extent, it wasn't really ideal for daily use.

well it should be as ideal as wearing a headset... but anyway isnt the point of IEMs for portability? must well get a full sized if you wanna go full sized lols

Well, except I already own IEMs. I also assume that a headset designed to block noise would be much more effective than closed headphones, as well as cheaper.

I do this for cutting the lawn.

1. depending on the fit, you have to fiddle to keep the wire from hurting. Those noise blocking muffs fit more snuggly than earphones. But that snugness is good because ...
2. they stay on pretty well, you'll have to see if your activity knocks them off or askew.
3. I can't say on heat, because lawn cutting isn't that strenuous.
4. For me, it's better than my noise-canceling MP3 players (Sony NWZ-S705 and NWZ-736) only because I don't get a good enough fit in the Sonys (it's just me and my ears). When I do, the Sonys are outstanding, I just see lips moving when people try to talk to me.
