I have plenty of Tori's albums. I like her fine, so chill.

When you make the same cliched, tired "joke" in multiple threads, you move from being a well-mannered joker to someone who's just being an *******.

I'm getting this album as soon as it hits the shelves. This is not an album I want to listen to with crappy quality 'leaks'. I want to fully enjoy it.

Let's try to be a little more adult shall we. There's no need for this kind of playground name calling. Take the money you were going to spend on the Tori album and buy a sense of humor instead.

"Singer/songwriter Tori Amos has released her new album American Doll Posse on vinyl because she hates MP3 players. The singer, 43, claims digital music devices don't do justice to her music.

She says, "I object to the fact that people might listen to my music on these tiny headphones. It can only be a disappointment. I created it for you to crank it up and have a sonic orgasm!... That's why I made American Doll Posse a double album on vinyl. It's a real, concrete structure."

She always has the best SQ when she records. Her LPs are great. I just can't get into her music. Sorry. I tried when I had a girlfriend that worshipped her.

I have most of her stuff, and from the few songs I've heard IMO this is one of her better releases. Again IMO this is much more like her earlier works which I prefer to her newer stuff.

I've had this album for a few days now, and I must say: it's great. I loved all of her albums so far, including Scarlet's Walk and The Beekeeper, but this is definitely one of the better releases IMO. Many great tracks, superb singing and pleasant arrangements.

I don't see the connection. Andrew Bird is at his best still very cerebral, without the kind of visceral appeal that Tori derives (as this thread has sort of mentioned) from Kate Bush. And Andrew Bird at his best is still a few notches shy of Tori's measure, IMO, but that is another issue.

The connection is that they both make high quality, melodic and lyrically engaging adult contemporary music with a strong connection to the past. Bird's lyrics are more cerebral, but the music is very emotional, and in person he is an enchanting performer with a great deal of visceral impact. But who is best will always be just an opinion. My point is that I believe Bird is producing some of the best work of his career right now, as good as anyone in the field, while I think Tori's best days are in the past. That said, I did enjoy much of Scarlett's Walk, but it seemed to fade from my memory kind of fast too. On the other hand, Bird's last 4 albums are all excellent, and some of the best of the new millenium.

I have a friend who has long, unaffectionately referred to Tori as the Anti-Kate.
