Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the various Ipod Nano's besides storage space? Should I buy one of those invisible shields or a case?
No, no difference besides storage space and price, of course, and if your colour is black or white.
The nano's are notorious for their being scratch-prone, so an invisible shield or similar would probably be advisable, if you'd like your nano scratch-free. And because its an ipod you wont find a limit to the cases available for it.
Hope that helped

Nano's are no more scratch prone than any other iPod. Plastic scatches, get over it.
As for protection for the Nano, if you are careful with it a shield will do. If you are a bit more rough with it a case would be better. I use to use a shield, but lint started to collect under the edges- I kept my Nano in my pocket. Switched to a case.

100% Agreed. I work for a Apple Specialist and we get this all the time.... They buy the ipod we recommend a case, they dont get one and come back complaining. We have had tons of ppl wanting to return them because there is a few scratches somewhere sometimes not even on the screen. Its like hey, this is a portable device that is super tiny and is probably gona go everywhere you go. ITS GONA GET SCRATCHEd if you dont get a case. Sorry just venting.
PS: I really like the "Agent 18" Shields for the ipods. Cheap and good.
