If were you I would really return the HE-400 purely based on the ridiculous price you paid. I have no idea why they charge so much for HE-400 here (UK). £400 = $635 a pair of HD650 would probably be on par with HE-400 and they are priced around £260

Anyway you can try HD650 with your laptop setupbefore you return HE-400? I hope you not gonna loose high quality deep bass by switching to HD650
