Dear all,

hello and "Grüß Gott" from Germany. I am the proud owner of a Layla II and SP1000 combination for 3 days now-still overwhelmed by the gorgeous design and brilliant sound performance. Nothing heard anything better for quite a while. Nothing to claim so far.

I also was a proud owner of an AK 380 and a Fostex 900 and Oriolus IEM back in 2015 but sold all of them as the Oriolus produced a steady ground noise which I did not want to accept. Due to a distributor change (steady noise should have been covered by guarantee) in Germany these days it really cost me a lot of money so A&K messed up with me for over 2 years... But the new distributor is doing a brilliant job!

What are your tips regarding ear tips? Just ordered some Spinfits and already using slightly modified comply foams (cutting off the front part).

Looking forward to nice conversations.

Cheers.

M.

Servus and congrats! I use comply comfort for my Layla II and am very satisfied with the sound. Might want to check ´em out.

I searched this thread with but did not find any information that could answer my question. Has anyone used bluetooth to connect an SP1000 to a relatively new car and been able to see song title, artist, and maybe even album art on the car's lcd screen for the specific song that is being played? I understand that a wired connection has better sound, but a wired connection usually doesn't have safer steering wheel control like bluetooth does.

Thanks

Unfortunately you will not be able to see track information when connected via Bluetooth.

Jason, thanks for the quick reply. I had hopes with the faster processor in the SP1000 that it might be able to display some track info. Well maybe some day there will be enough users requesting it on the enhancement list.

It's a bandwidth limitation of Bluetooth. Standard Bluetooth, which most cars have, can only reliably support a less than CD quality audio stream, while apt X supports 16/44.1 and apt X HD supports 24/48. To transmit track info also would use additional bandwidth and reduce audio quality.

Thanks for the additional info. I confess I don't know much about how bluetooth works, but it makes sense that bandwidth used for track info or album art would leave less bandwidth for the actual audio stream.

One would be hard pressed to find Apt-X or better BT support for a car stereo unless you go 3rd party high end receiver. I have a Tesla X on order and it will have AAC codec for my iPhone which is perfect for me, but no Apt-X as of 2017.

Speaking for myself (and I assume other AK owners), what I want from my player is the best possible DAP with no fancy tech- just incredible sound and a great GUI. Other companies make DAPs with bells and whistles, and more power to them (and those that want them). I certainly don't want all that other stuff, and so far AK has shown no propensity to go in that direction. As long as it continues to make the best-sounding DAP with the best GUI that always works and isn't tech-heavy, I'll be a customer. I've owned many other DAPs. I've now had three AK's, and really am very happy with the brand as it is. There are SO many choices out there at this point that anyone who wants more tech can easily find a DAP that has it. The fact that AK's are simple (using the word in a non-negative way) is the selling point for me.
