Regarding the Copper tarnishing, Copper metal tarnishes by default, so it will eventually start to tarnish. We used a different clear coat on the SP1000 and a different application procedure than what we did with the AK380, so there is less wear of the clear coat like there was with the AK380. All units that we have for over two years and are handled a lot at shows, demos, etc without cases have shown zero signs of tarnishing. Same procedure will be used on the new SP2000.

FYI, I found out in our weekly team meeting today that the SP1000 AMP will be a limited production run. I don't know how many will be produced, but it will be limited worldwide. If there is a big demand, they may do a second production run.

Yeah. the sp1000 is very neutral ,yet it doesn't sound boring or flat so it pairs well with most iems . i love the solaris , once you're able to get the fit right and tips that work for you, they sound lovely.

I'm sort of fantasizing about the SP2000 right now, and i'm debating which one would be more ideal for a brighter IEM/cable set up.

Nothing atm, just my portable rig, but I was thinking something like Quad ESL electrostatics (thank you Kitechaser) and a tube amp and preamp, maybe like a Macintosh and the 2000 cu as source...

This is more of a question about AK Connect then about SP1000: I plan to get a SP1000 or AK300 to use it on-the-go with optical out to a Hugo 2. I plan to play music from the sd card in the DAP, and control via an iPhone using the AK Connect app.

Is using the iPhone hotspot the only way to do this? Is there a more power-efficient way?
