Hi All, I have spent years tweeking my big system but lately I've begun to really enjoy my headphones. I have a very modest set up. A Tivoli radio next to my bed and a pair of Grado 60s.

I like to build amps and will start looking into a good headphone tube amp design. Any suggestions? Cheers.

Are you on a budget? You can give Millet's Starving Student Hybrid Amp a try.

The simplicity of this setup strikes me as just plain amazing. That must provide a lot of listening pleasure.

Welcome to Head-Fi....

It's odd (to me) but there are more SS and Hybrid designs for DIYers than all tube amps. Pete Millet's website will no-doubt give you lots of good info.

BTW, the DIY or Full-Sized amp forum would be better for this thread.

Also, check out the meetings and get-togethers forum. If you can possibly make it to a Head-Fi meet, I can't recommend it enough.

The Cavalli Audio Bijou looks very impressive and has gotten great reviews. Also looks like a simple build.

The Tivoli does sound nice, but with headphone I can hear hiss even on the strongest stations....very little though.

I will look for a local meeting. Thanks all.
