The WF-1000XM5's sound great out of all Android devices using LDAC

But modern hybrid TWS (Fiio FW5, Noble Mystique, Mifi Hifidots and so on) sound much better than the WF-1000 XM. Much better.

This player has a more than modest output power even at 32 ohms of load. And at 300 ohms, the parameters are totally ridiculous.

Downloaded an adb tool that can disable system apps.
When I got the popup about volume after an hour I found what app sent it and disabled via adb. I haven't seen it again. See if it works for you.
The app is.
"com.sony.walkman.volumectrlalert"

Hi all, there is a new firmware update for A306, will need more time to see what improvement is made. Btw, the system is updated to Android 13, pretty cool golden clock.

I really hope that BT performance is improved as 900/990 hasn't worked well for me with WF-1000XM5, even at very short distances (shirt pocket).

I just did a short test. Im always on 900/990 with wf-xm5. At home usage, it can go longer distance with thick walls in between with minimum stuttering, previous firmware, not so good with walls. Will try on busy areas next few days in train stations which I have to carry A306 above waist level to maintain good connection with 900/990.

O, ya, if your shirt pocket is on the left, try pull out the left bud from the Sony case first to make it the main receiver as advice by Mr Walkman.

Try update all apps from the Play Store too. There is a strange service call Private computer service appear there which i update too, and it says improve optimization........ bah, i just update it.

My quick test didn't show any improvements. Unlistenable if wifi is on, even at 5GHz. I'll try the left bud first trick and see if that helps. My Audeze Maxwell also had the same issues so I'm not expecting much.

I don't think Sony ever did a full version Android update on any previous DAP! Amazing. My phone has only just gone over to Android 14.

Started update now.

Might be total mind playing tricks on me but Spotify seems to sound better

Just checked and Hi-Res still off so it's not put that on as default and I stick to normal mode with just using Spotify for music on my A307 and the Sony app for all my own files.
