But in my experience, this issue only appears when you "wakeup" the A300 by start to play something, most likely because the capacitors discharge.
mine doesn't lack bass whatever i do: play it cold, warm, right after pause, after an hour of listening etc - it always sounds the same, no issues.

Listening to local files?

I have the same issue with my WM1ZM2 and had the same issue with my WM1Z

If i pause the music for some time and then just pressed play (without pressing anything else, while the screen was black, so the player was sleeping) this kind of wakeup always caused that i was able to hear the capacitors charge up.

I am not always able to trigger it, it is some sort of energy saving function. Maybe its related to streaming/local files, the app used and so on.

As i am only listening to local files and nothing else, i was able to reproduce this with every Walkman i owned so far (NW-A50, ZX500, WM1Z, WM1ZM2)

A306 Power Usage

Being new to this technology I read battery life was to be claimed as follows:

"Up to 36 hours on 44.1kHz FLAC playback, up to 32 hours on 96kHz FLAC high resolution audio, or even up to 26 hours with the streaming service apps."

Mine certainly doesn't 'appear' to be getting anything like that so I wanted to check a few things.

When I set mine up it imported various things from my phone some of which I didn't want on my Sony.

I attach which Apps I have on the A306 and also, the only two I have open when using the device

I don't leave the screen on and it's not overly bright in my view as you can see

Volume varies between 50/120 & 80/120.

You'll see from the next image my playback since last charge is nothing like the above figures, so what's draining it? 🤔

Any ideas as to what adjustments I could make or thoughts as to why it's not achieving the remotely close to the quoted figures?

Thanks in advance.

Are you connected to Wi-Fi at all times? I don't have the device, but I've used android for a long time, and I would advise checking background processes to see if you can disable certain app from draining battery in the background. This video on Sony Walkman is pretty old but it could help with improving battery life:

Hopefully, other owners of this DAP can respond concerning their current battery life.

That's one of the benefits of having a digital amp, low power and cool runnings. I'd venture the back is plastic like previous A Series.
Just looked/tapped mine and I'd say the Top & back is one piece (L shape) and made of plastic. The main casing is milled aluminium.

Well I completed the factory reset, reloaded my apps and downloaded my music onto the Micro SD storage…

Thankfully, the bass remains, still no issues there.

Only issues that remain are:

-Low feedback static when on wifi
-Some lag when downloading (better in this regard than the ZX507, slightly worse than the WM1AM2)
I find downloading over WIFI faster & more reliable than on the W1AM2 I had.

Still no noise at all if I'm using WIFI while listening to music.

I am.
Thanks for the video, I'll check it out. :sunglasses::thumbsup:
Those times of 36 hours will be playing mp3 or 96FLAC in Walkman Music player at 50% volume with no screen use & wifi/BT turned off. No other app running. Also, DIRECT mode and no Hi-mode. Also from full charge, not the Battery Care mode level.

- EQ/DSP has major impact on battery life
- Higher bit rates have major impact on battery life

I charged mine yesterday and stopped at 95% (batterycare). Its now showing 68% and 4.5hrs Walkman music, 2hrs Spotify offline, 15min screen time at about 55/120 volume with my SE846's. WifI/BT off. DIRECT and low-mode.

If this was typical I'd hit 22hrs based on 6.5hrs use and using battercare. Mix of FLAC 44/96/192 & MQA tracks, no MP3 or DSD

So I'd say playing just mp3 in just Walkman app from a full 100% charge would be over 30hrs

In Direct mode & only using the Walkman app, not a third party app. On other Sony Android DAP's the Walkman app uses nearly half the power of other apps. Keep BT off too.

Just an interesting fact, our A300's have a small 1,200mAh battery to get as much as +30hrs use. I also had a great Hiby R5GII and in ECO amp mode that can get 35hrs but that's only using the old, less demanding Android 8.1 and has a 4,500mAh battery!

Small size obviously has to have smaller battery. And unbelievable the ZX707 has same size battery as we have and was same with A100 & ZX500 series. I think the 1AM2/1ZM2 have double the battery size yet still small compared to all other DAP's.
