The same can be said with 1ZM2. As someone that listens to mostly electronic music, 1ZM2 works beautifully, especially when paired with the right IEM that complements its rich tone.
It’s not totally about being slower but it just doesn’t have the peaky transients that look like the zig zag edges of a saw tool in shape if the waveform is viewed on an oscilloscope. The 1ZM2 rounds off the peak attack of transients, which makes things sound less gritty but also just softens out that crispy feel. How much can you try to add back that lost part of the sound? I am not sure. I tried using the MDR-1AM2 with its aggressive treble response timings, it still sounds rounded off with the WM1ZM2.
Did somebody try to connect a 2Tb or 4 Tb SSD on the USB-C port ? Does the music library include this path ?
Can be the library update done manually (to avoid a very long waiting)?
And what about PowerampEQ or Wavelet can the proper parameters be applied ?
The suitability for certain genres will depend far more on the IEM/headphone than the source. To say that a source - especially one as refined and sophisticated as the 1Z - is not suited to certain music genres doesn't add up for me. Now synergy with certain IEMs/headphones, that's a different matter altogether. Just my 0.02.
PS. Also, who's to say someone will enjoy a certain type of transient response more or less with a given genre? What if I prefer my electronic music more relaxed than zippy?
This is after all, a subjective discussion on listen preferences. I guess if it’s not necessary for me to give my views then I should shut up for good.
