Got my EA5 today. Had couple issues with it:
Connected through USB
1. As soon as I connect headphones - left speaker is off, but right speaker is on with a low volume.
2. Connected Out RCA to a headphone amp - no sound is coming.
Any fix for this? Its kind of stupid to use headphone with a speaker on.

I am a recent owner of the EM5 and I am very impressed and happy with the device, I do have a issue though.

The issue only seems to be when streaming music via Apple Music (I only use Apple Music, so not sure about others). Music via networks service NAS is ok.

Issue: When I play a playlist or album (downloaded or online, normal order or shuffle, lossy and lossles) it happens that the end of the song is cut short for a few seconds and the next song is starting a couple seconds later in the song.

Firmware is latest (1.41) and factory resetted.

Is this a know issue?

So this is happening at end of every single song?

Not at the moment because I don't have another audio device that uses coaxial cable. I tried playing files in 16bit 44Khz resolution and still no audio. I tested it with several players like Bubbleupnp, Neutron Music Player, 432 Player, and nothing works with coaxial cable for EM5. Maybe is a problem in EM5!

Can you please send me in PM screenshots of what exactly is displayed on your HiBy when using these apps and files?
I would strongly recommend testing some other coaxial source before making any final judgement.

@Shanling , Can I connect Shanling EM5 analog outputs to two devices simultaneously ? (like two amps or an amp and sub) . I dont know if the outputs of Shanling EM5 are shared . I saw that if XLR output is true balanced I may consider a custom cable as the following diagram to 'split' the XLR output to positive and negative phase into two pairs of RCA. (see the picture). thks

EM5 can be connected to two device if you use both the RCA and XLR outputs (To proper balanced input on your amplifier).

We strongly recommend against any such DIY solutions of running balanced XLR into RCA outputs, without proper Balanced to Single ended converter.

2. Do you still have speakers connected? What volume setting you have set? In line-out mode?

I've updated it to V1.34. Issue 2 is gone, but 1 - is still there. If I disconnect headphones in local playback - it stops the music, not sure I've seen such behaviour with any player before.
Is it a faulty device or a firmware issue? Why I cannot select in the menu where I can play music - on speaker or headphones or line out?

Pausing when headphones disconnect is software setting, you can turn it on//off in Playback setting.

We got quite a bit of feedback asking for selectable output mode, it's now up to decision of our management and software team.

@shanling i think you didn't answer my question properly. I was searching on shanling webpage about shanling EM5 internal DAC implementation : ONE AKM AK4493EQ CHIP (2 channel chip) , so its NO TRUE/FULL BALANCED OUPUTS Like Shanling EM7 ( ES9038pro with 8 channels). Then if i use BOTH RCA an XLR outputs at the same time , and these outputs are shared, it will split the output power and degrade the signal. Isn't it?????

The analog section of EM5 is robust enough to drive two outputs even with a single DAC.

I'm trying to output audio with Hiby R6 2020, but coaxial in Shanling EM5 doesn't works. I tryed to log in spotify, Tidal, Qobuz and Deezer by Wifi 2.0, Wifi 5.0 and Lan Cable Internet connection and nothing works! Please what device you are using as coaxial transport?
I'm not really sure what you mean by "USB-C to Coaxial"?

We are not seeing other reports of issues with Spotify or Tidal. Do you have your EM5 connected over cable or Wi-Fi? Other internet functions (like OTA update, wi-fi file transfer) seems to connect?

I discover today that everything is working properly. The coaxial input and output works perfectly with my XDuoo XQ Pro2. The problem has always been the coaxial cable of my Hiby R6 2020, with it no audio transmission happens, but with another device and audio converter, it works perfectly. We are aware of this issue, it was fixed in recent firmware update for EM7, it will be coming in next firmware update to the EM5.

Another issue is when I access my files on my NAS I can see my ISO folders but can't find the ISO files.

Would be nice if on power cycle EA5 recover the previously selected source. At the moment I have to select DAC on each start. Also source button on start up in most cases doesn't work. You have to press power button 2x - only after that it works.
Power button sometimes works only from the 2nd time (e.g long press).
Also - it would be nice to have some kind of power save mode. E.g sleep.

The source after restart, that's error in latest firmware, it should be fixed in future.

The source switching was little bit separated from the main interface, that's why it can take a bit longer to react after the device restart.

EM5 is Android device, so if you have no music playing and don't use it, it will enter standard Android sleep mode.

Hello! Just got my EM5 and its sounds great, but I found two issues which is makes the listening experience not so satisfying. Of course there is many things to improve, and I can live with some inconvenience of user interface, but it's so frustrating when playback issues occur.
So the first one: short mute before every track. EM5 always "eats" the very first sound of the song. If I rewind to the start of the song which is playing - everything is great. But if you just choose a new song to play - it's always begins with short mute.
The second problem is the lack of continuous playback. I saw that this issue has already been discussed, but I just want to emphasize it again, I believe that if many people leave feedback about the same problems, it will make the developers react.

Just bought the EM5 from a retail store and unboxed it. Oh man, the package box is big! Couldn’t put it in the backpack that I prepared to carry it home. My unit comes with firmware v.1.30 and update OTA is really fast by picking server 2. It took only about 10 minutes to download, install and reboot. Now it is v.1.41. I have plugged in a pair of HD650 with 4.4mm balanced cable to let it play/burn in for a while first. Yet, ‘open-the-box’ impression is great! Feels like a long term keeper for me!
