What?! Only 1-dynamic driver, why not 16+ BAs/EST/DD per side?

/s

Congrats @Sennheiser. Really interested to hear these. The only Senn I currently own is the HD8 DJ (one of my fav closed backs - dark yet natural, heavy subbass) but in the past have enjoyed the HD800, 650, 540, HD250 Linear, HD25, HD630VB. I'm most interested in the IE300 as I already have a flagship. On tuning alone, and enclosure, I'm sure the IE900 is going to be special.

Thanks for being a lifelong customer! The IE 300 and IE 900 share some DNA, but are indeed in different tiers—each serving a purpose in their respective "pockets". We hope you get a set of 300's in your head soon!

The IE 300 may indeed be more your style as a very fun yet very proficient headphone, there's reason to enjoy all of our headphones! The IE 900 is our ultimate refinement... it is more airy than the IE 800S, and features many innovations such as the acoustic vortex at the nozzle to ensure a smooth sound, and X3R - three Helmholtz resonators to accurately tune the sound without masking other frequencies. Check out our announcement for more details... but we look forward to seeing more discussion!

I love my HD800S so this is definitely a must-try!

My initial thought was these are just a rehash of the 7mm driver. But upon closer inspection, looks like lot of work went into the chamber design and the acoustics.
Like Sony and other big companies, I often appreciate Sennheiser with their proper R&D and design work instead of mindlessly pumping out new products every 3-4 months just to make a quick buck and follow the latest trend. I also appreciate not slapping100 drivers crammed into a so called hybrid, tribrid, and now quadbrid designs, and after a quick tuning to closely match whatever targeted FR the companies have in mind, charging customers with arbitrarily defined price point ($3-5K seems to be a popular number nowadays). Hope these can live up to the Sennheiser name.

Will the IE 900 be available on Amazon right at release? I prefer not to order from Sennheiser store as I've had some bad customer service experience.

Pre-orders on the Sennheiser store start tomorrow, but your local or favorite national dealer will likely take a pre-order from you as well. If available on Amazon it will most likely be from Sennheiser as the seller.

Thank you for your feedback! It is a very thoughtful approach that demonstrates that acoustics technology still has a lot of runway with room for innovation.

Has the balanced cable for ie300/ie900 been released?
We'll offer an updated ETA as soon as we can. It's has not been formally launched but is in progress. I've tried the IE 300 balanced with the 900's cable and it works great. Perfect fit, and a joy on the m11 DAP I was putting through it's paces.

I think there are two parallel IE900 threads...
Sort of... Jude has posted his video review, there's this one, and our official sponsored forum announcement post. They all serve different purposes but we realize there may be some overlap depending on the questions that pop up and when.
