I'm not a fan of Sennheiser Woodies, but those are awesome!

Edit: The new wood is called "Burl tops."

The idea is to try and faithfully replicate the resonant characteristics of the recorded instrument. Guitars, guitar cabinets, drums, woodwinds, violins....are all essentially resonating wood chambers.

So far I have yet to find a headphone that really nails drum tones.... the RS1 comes really close though. I think at least a small part of it comes from the resonating wood chamber earcup.

Holy moly... those really ...."wood" spice up my darth senns!!! Once again Larry continues to amaze

And they sort of take on the new Grado "mushroom" shape!!

....don't do this in front of my MS-1s! They already want a new suit and I've settled on aluminum!

you mean this deal?

Soon… Grado HF-1 Ebony with Burl tops,… A trade in HF-1, turned into the fanciest pair of HF-1's to date. Ebony woodies with Burl tops, Ebony/Burl splitter, 1.5 BlackCopper to 4-pin XLR balanced. I will provide an adapter made from the aprox 1.5 meter stock cable (if needed) to 1/4", mini or dual XLR's. Topped off with a 325i gold lettered headband, RS style leather pad, with bowl pads and rod locks.

i guess i was wrong about the birdseye, but burl was close! congrats whoever snags em!

Those senn cups look amazing. Is that really ebony and burl? Because that's one of the coolest things I've seen Larry do to date. The shaping alone...sheesh!

Only problem could be to choose on of the mods.
The new HF-1 looks great, but the old ones do either...

Hm. In Germany we have a proverb, it goes
"Wer die Wahl hat, hat die Qual."
Free translated:
If you have a choise, you have a suffering.

And you can be shure that I suffer because I really want my HF-1 to be modded...

Personally, the sennheiser cups are just plain ugly, the shape of the wood just looks really bad to me. The HF-1's look excellent, but the stands are only OK. So basically, i only really like the HF-1, i dont really think the rest look great.
