But on a serious note, I love the tone and texture of the Asgard 2. I miss the days of warm sounding gear, pleasant high's and deep, defined bass. I miss the liquid mid's and a decent layering of the sound stage. I have the Gen 1 Mjolnir and that thing is like a A2 on steroids, another banger amp right there!

I haven't tasted a A3 yet but I do have a Jot1, I love that too but has less character and more definition and a tad cleaner in presentation.

I agree about the A2. It's a very underated headphone amplifier that has one of the most natural sounds of any headphone amp I have ever listened to. I also have a Jotunheim V1 which has plenty of power, but IME not the same warmth and liquidity that the A2 has.

Sonically, the A3 is somewhere between the A2 and Jot 1.

Also here - although the Asgard is on the shelf most of the time. Valhalla 2 is handling the high-impedance cans, Midgard the low and Vali 3 both

LOL. I still have an Asgard 2 in black and one in silver along with an Asgard 3. The Asgard 2 is my favorite headphone amplifier for use with inexpensive planars like the HiFiman HE4XX and the Fostex T50RP MK3 and T60RP. The pure Class A architecture of the A2 just sounds more realistic with these planars.

Yes, I haven't listened to mine in a long while tho. I did use it as a heater when the heat was out in the old house. I have a space heater now.

I've been mostly in big audio on my speakers lately, but I've just got new cans (HD490 PRO) and renewing my love to headphone listening on the good ol' Asgard 2!
