I just looked at Rudistor's site and seems they have a new version of RP7 came out called RP7-"c series". I wonder how it compare to the last version? From the picture it seems volume control has changed from the very nice golden Alps RK50 to something else (don't know what). Price is 1250 euro ($1560) which is much cheaper than last version!

RK40 was discontinued, according to Rudi last email, the circuit was improved over the last version. The balanced inputs were removed simply because the RP7B was a single ended amp at the end, and the inputs were only to give the amp the posibility of accepting XLR inputs for those who have a true balanced source and nothing else...

The two XLR to RCA transformers really cost much but have little improvement on audio quality, maybe even worse, damage audio quality due to imperfect transmission characteristic. Cutting them to reduce costs is a good idea IMO.

But I don't agree cutting RK50, becuase it is really very good.

You'd be talking quite a lot more $. Maybe Rudi should offer it as an option.

The RK50 is an instrument pot, same as the RK40, in the case of the 50, shaft and everything is different, I have heard all of them, RK50, RK40, and RK27, and aside of the mechanical differences (the RK50 is an orgasm just to touch it) and for audio purposes the RK27 is still a real bargain, and honestly stand very well against the other two brothers...in other words, I'm not saying that you will not notice any difference, becasue we have here a few bats, but in a double blind test it will be really hard...

I don't know if it has some new and improved electronic components but it looks the same as my old RP-7 Lite which did not have balance inputs as the RP-7B had.

It is a great little amp and with the option of rolling those input stage tubes you can taylor the sound to you taste and your headphones for instance when I was using my woodied D2000 I had in there a quad of Daystorm made by Mullard which was providing me a smooth silky sound. With the Mullard my DX1000 sounded a little bit dark so the cryo-treated Brimar or the Beckman were better for those.

I sold it just because I went up to the mighty RP010B which is the best amplifier I have ever heard specially in a fully balanced (from source to headphones) configuration otherwise the RP-7 was staying home.

Good to know the RP-7 was loved. I always wonder this tube amp from Rudistor was not very popular and I am wondering if the RP-7C has some magic to make it more popular ?

Make no mistake I am a fan of Rudistor amps. Just wonder why the RP-7 was not as popular or talked about as the others.
