New Radiohead On October 10th

Wow. This really doesn't look too good for the prospect of a "real" release does it...

I just want the cd and maybe some nice art and liner notes. $80 is not going to happen. These downloads better be wav.

I don't think they will remain label-less for long: I don't think the music industry can afford to let this album get away. And the band let you pay whatever you decide for the download, so if you don't want to pay that much for a lossy format, then don't pay that much.

from what i remember, it was just parts (mainly piano) that were going to be recorded binaurally. and to answer your question...i don't know if they ended up recording that way or not.

You can put in £0.00 and you don't have to pay anything. Stop complaining guys! Many of us have been waiting for this album for years now and it's finally here, and they're offering it FREE. If you feel like giving them money for it, then you can. Of course they will offer the standalone CD a little down the road. But take a step back, think about the music instead of the medium, and realize how amazing this really is

Exactly my point. Just try to support the band if you really like their music.

What's the back story with the whole label-less deal? If they're still without one, it sounds like a conscience decision.

I know they fulfilled their contract with EMI, and that's about it.

Anyone care to clue me in?

/Edit: Heck, after thinking about it,cut out the middle man. Price the hard copy high and push the cheaply produced DL. Sounds like smart biz'ness to me. They could make a killing. When you're as big as Radiohead, who needs a stinkin' label?

Man, I just want a CD... Just a plain CD to play. I love Radiohead but to get vinyl I certianly won't use anything time soon just seems like a waste. And I don't want downloads, I want something I can touch!!!

Is there going to be a normal CD of this stuff down the road??

I guess the best I can do is hope they are wav and burn them. Is anyone else going this route??

this is really interesting and creative.
hard to complain about something basically offered for free.

innovative idea by one of the most innovative bands.

To all those who just want a regular CD:

It would be almost unthinkable that a regular CD won't come out sometime, since no record label is stupid enough to let a band with that much clout get away from distribution. Radiohead is simply trying to get leverage to get a better distribution deal from labels.

Just ask yourself this: would you rather pay nothing (legally too) and listen to mp3 versions of the MUISC or wait for a long time to get the PHYSICAL MEDIA?

If you love Radiohead's music as music, I think the answer is clear.
