[Basshead Jazz]

Just as everyone has given-up hope on Portishead ever releasing new material for the last ten-years since their last self-titled album, the band has finally scheduled a release date for April of their yet untitled third album.

They played a gig last weekend, showcasing a few of the new songs from the forthcoming album (full video clips below).

I liked what I heard, and they sounded just as fresh as ever. I'm looking forward to this new record. Hopefully a tour won't be too far behind...

Portishead are great, I just ordered Dummy on Vinyl a few days ago, just to compare it to the CD.

I will give the new tunes a listen to later, and I will keep an eye out for the release.

I saw Portishead live on the tour to promote their second album and was absolutely amazed: I assumed on the strength of Dummy that most of their stuff was just assembled in the studio, but they really are/were a great band.

It'll be interesting to see if they have anything more to give.

I am really looking forward to this.. please no more delays. Although, if I have to, I would rather wait another year for an amazing album than four months for a good one.


Do you guys think Portishead will probably tour in promotion of this album? What size venues do you think they will play? I would guess something pretty large.

Ill try to stay optimistic here but it has not served me well in the past.
Maybe we'll get new Massive and Portishead in the same year?

I'm kinda new to portishead, what do you guys like about the band? I like the voice (obviously) and the way the music fits in perfectly (not over the top).

There have been way too many rumors about an "upcoming Portishead album" but its good to see they finally posted an update on their site with a date. Its about time!

It's legit. The band said so on their site.

Also, they've announced dates for a UK/EU tour in the spring, and will be performing at the Coachella Music Festival.
