hi guys,

I was surfing around looking for some IEMs and noticed Philips has dived into the wonderfull world of Head-fi with their new Armature based IEM's.

Dunno if anybody around here knows about these or has had the oppertunity to audition these. They seem very nice, and It makes me very curious about what philips could do with an armature design....

Specs:
- Single balanced Armature
- impedance = 12 Ohm at 1Khz
- sensitivity = 115 dB SPL/mW at 1Khz
- max. input = 3mW
- Frequency responce = 20Hz - 20 KHz

Maybe a new competitor for Sleek, UE, Shure and Etymotic?

I'm hoping to see some reviews popping up around here soon...

EDIT: just found their price. 95 Euros = approx. 147 USD. So that would be in the price range of the UE super.fi 4, Shure SE210, Futuresonics Atrio, Q-jays and almost even the UE super.fi 5.......

Very interesting indeed...

Not very new. We already have a thread about them back on CES'08 when Philips announced them.

BTW, only SHE-9850 uses BA transducer, SHE-9800 is dynamic.

well,

I didn't know about that thread.

And I know that only the SHE9850 uses the BA driver. That's the only IEM discussed in this thread.

Hard to keep the volume down with that low impedance and high sensitivity. At least you'll never be able to blow the driver. That max input combined with the sensitivity would probably kill you first.
