While helping a friend purchase a new stereo setup, I learned that NAD is coming out with a new cd player to match the C320BEE integrated amp. The unit will replace the the old 521 but remain priced at $300. It will also be availible in standard NAD finish or silver. The dealer that I spoke with said that they have heard the player and like it better than the 541i. If that is true it sounds as if this new cd player will be the redbook baragain to buy. Just letting everyone know...

If its as nice a cdp as the C320BEE is an amplifier, it should be a great bargain.

Sweet. Too bad they don't have a budget SACD player yet.

I tried the new player, although very briefly, and it sounded very good for the price. I consider buying it as I'm looking for a good, cheap ($500 or below) SACD-/CDP. For the price I doubt that you can get anything better.

I use twin NAD power amps/NAD pre,+ a C541i CD player for HDCD in my speaker system. I've always had a soft spot for this company. They build great products without all the frills. Their stuff usually tests better than their listed specs...(especially the amps).

Bang for the buck, in the entry level top-end, I think NAD equipment rocks.

This new budget CD model should be no exception. I'd love to audition one!

Breaking news? No. It's been available in Sweden since sometime this summer as far as I know. It costs about $320 here which may sound a lot but it really isn't because the Swedish Krona has been gaining more on the US Dollar lately...

where is nad located?

I've seen some killer deals: http://www.hifi4less.com/NAD_C521BEE_CD_Player.htm

521BEE cdplayer is 179 Euros, thats 275$cdn or 210USD, boy, thats cheap!

The 542 is £289.00, 340$US or 445$CDN!

UK only though...

Locally, (Montreal, Canada) I've seen the 541 @ 650$CDN (500$USD)...

Will "HiFi4Less" ship it to America (for $210)?

I'm also a big fan of NAD. I use an NAD integrated and power amp as a twin-monoblock setup, and have used their pre and power amps dating back to the 1020 and 3020 - two of the all-time great budget components.

I've not used their CD gear, as I've mostly stuck with Adcom and Elite/Pioneer over the years. That said, what I've heard has never failed to impress. I suspect that this will be no exception.

NAD is a great company, and obviously committed to producing high value for their users.

I believe that's not euro but pounds which converts more like $400 CND or $300 US for the 521BEE and $650 CND or $490 US fro the 542. So the prices you've seen in Canada seem fairly accurate.
