New Member Looking for New Gear Schiit jotunheim and Sennheiser HD 650

Anyone want to chime in and help me out with a DAC? I understand its purpose from all the articles I've read. I'm only using my HD700's from my PC to LD1+ to HD700's. I don't have any real issues. I'll get a hum every now and then. I'm guessing that's from the LD. I feel like the amp is plenty for the headphones and the Mullard tubes give me a nice sound as well. So components I'm missing is a DAC. Is it worth adding to my system? I've checked out the Schiit line up and the modi uber should be plenty. The bifrost will be overkill I believe. Thanks in advance.

I would go for the Modi Multibit, referred to as the Mimby on here. I love mine although the Modi Uber is also well regarded for a delta-sigma DAC.

I also started out with just an amp and no DAC. The Mimby made a pretty big difference with Vali 2 and the K7XX.

I ordered a jot and 650s a few days ago. Very excited to try it all out.
Do you have balanced cables for your 650? It's really the biggest reason to buy that amp :p I love the combo because the Jot adds just enough brightness to the 650 to help the treble come alive

not yet I just ordered it all, I plan on getting some from impact audio cables once I decide on a length.
6ft or 8ft and coil whatever you don't need!

Yeah I think this is what I'll do.
Good idea! You can always just get little velcro ties and coil up whatever you don't need. It's so nice to be able to get up with headphones and not have them rip out of the amp or off your head haha
