It's been a while

You beat me warrenpchi! But I posted to your thread...agree this thing is incredible!

My dealer in Houston ordered 6 units...he got 3...I got one of them luckily.

I was prepared to be underwhelmed...the opposite occurred!
Congrats! It’s a cool amp!

I’m so bummed that the units delivered so far are not headfiers .....never even heard of it. Maybe 1 guy.

Um, ahem lol

Sorry! I just couldn't stop listening. Then, factoring in my inability to keep my trap shut... stuff happened. 🤣

Concerned about this comment from positive feedback review - "On my sample, the volume control is loose and wiggles in its chassis housing"

Probably just a review unit, but just want to make sure its not the case on all units.

I have one of the first units along with the Positive Feedback reviewer...the issue is a touch overstated...can you feel the pot move ever so slightly if you torque on it (which you really shouldn't do) well yes...is it "loose", absolutely not.

Thanks good to hear, Mcintosh always have stellar built quality and great customer support.

Would love to get impressions of this with both Meze Empyreans and Focal Stellia if you guys get the chance.
Heard the Empy's at the dealer for a short period of time...they sounded great, probably better than I've ever heard them - though they aren't my favorite cans, I didn't listen long - wanted to get back home to set up the amp! I have a set of OG Clears on the way...expecting good things - I'll report back. Can't comment on the Stellia. However, It seems that most McIntosh dealers also tend to carry Focal and Meze...high end stuff travels together. Hard to imagine they won't synergize. This is a fast, tight, musical amp, single ended, push/pull, triode. This is not a syrupy OTL where you're going to have impedance issues and matching headphones becomes an issue. I listened with my Sennheiser HD660S and once I selected the proper impedance with the switch, it drove them with the same authority that it did my LCD-2 using the lower impedance setting.

Nope! It is a production unit. It is not a defect or deficit to the amp. It is the type of pre VC they are using. It is a non-issue. If you want to understand this attribute and you have a McIntosh dealer nearby with any of the preamps that have an EQ in front, it’s the same type of knob as the EQ knobs with the same exact feel

Thank you Jason and Warren for a kind coverage for the MHA-200 amp. I was wondering if either of you have tested this amp with the abyss 1266-TC ? I was wondering if this amp has enough power for the TC's ?

That would depend on what level listener you are. For me and my listening levels I’d say say yes. For others they might hit the top of the amp (distortion free) but that would be pretty loud whew! IMO. So yes, if you’re not looking for really high levels. It’s an amplifier I respect greatly. If you have a chance I recommend you give it a listen. Maybe have your favorite cans handy 👍🏻👊🏻
