They sold Audio Research a few months back. You are correct in saying it is no longer owned by Fine Sounds (an Italian investor group). The McIntosh Group is lead by Charlie Randall, one of McIntosh’s engineers for about 34 years. It is American owned and operated. Mr Randall has been leading the company for many years. Be happy because Charlie is awesome and listens to people’s ideas as he decides what goes to market and what doesn’t. The McIntosh Group owns Sonus Faber, Sumiko and Rotel actively and although they haven’t done anything with it they also own Wadia. .... just for an accurate update

Didn't know they sold Audio Research...IMHO the best high end gear in the world. Also didn’t know they owned Rotel... great value gear. I haven’t kept up, but in the back of my mind I always worried that McIntosh had sold out... their product line seems overly broad, and sometimes (only sometimes) seems to appeal to the “more money than brains” crowd. I still want to buy an MHA 200, but I don’t know that I trust them enough to buy without seeing a few reviews...

I’m an old dog. I’ve been around McIntosh since Frank McIntosh owned it. It’s current tech and build quality are definitely top drawer. I leave the value up to the consumer to decide with their personal tastes. I own both and we sell both ARC and McIntosh. I’m a fan of both.
Would be great if this new McIntosh jewel brings us someone that does a comparo in the $2-3k tube amp market, comparint it to the « newer » ones like Auris HA-2SF, the LTA MZ3, Luxman SQ150...
Ok, just got the word. McIntosh has been in backorder status on nearly everything since December. Products have been coming in but slowly. They decided to move the MHA200 to next months production run so they can get out of their backorder condition.
